Smells Like Irish Breeze here’s I Am A Car Crash

i am a car crash

After we have known the Vulpynes, it’s time to know another band from the fresh Ireland, they are  I Am A Car Crash. I want to paraphrase the Kathleen Hanna maybe more famous quote: “Kurt smells like Teen Spirit” and I say: there is some smell of Irish breeze in these days. As Teen Spirit is a deodorant, Irish Breeze is a company of quality skin and baby care. Ok, serious, the message is that Irish independent music movement is pretty interesting.

I Am A Car Crash is a sort of no-genre band with many great influences, they play loud, yay! They define theirselves as “dark poetic cloudy loneliness” or “new age, no core, no wave, post 9/11 drama”. After the strictly punky (“punk” in a good meaning) White People Problems (2013) and some line-up changes IACC have an upcoming album planned for Spring 2018. You can’t wait? Okay, Paper Cuts got a gift for you: a preview with the new track “Them Not Us”: good sounds with Sprechgesang techniques and echoes. It’s hard to define it better than their own definition: “new age, no core, no wave, post 9/11 drama”. Listen and let me know!

I AM A CAR CRASH are:

JD a.k.a. EMILIO vocals and guitar

TOMEK a.k.a. EMILIO bass

J a.k.a. EMILIO vocals and drums

SHANE a.k.a EMILIO synth and guitar

Sorry but it’s boring, hopeful for the next one

giants

Giants in the Trees first record won’t made the history. The eponymous of Krist Novoselic’s band, with Jack Endino’s hand, is well-played and well-sang by Jillian Raye who can sing like Shirley Manson or in falsetto, but in the forefront I can hear more technique and stylish things than inner contents (Ode to Pacific Anarchism, semi-instrumental). It’s a pity because the two singles (Sasquatch and Seed Song disconnetted from the other tracks was working). It’s like the Iron Maiden’s record X: brillant singles in boring albums. I can compare the Giant in the Trees folk-rock to murder ballads genre and if I think to nowadays I can speak about Karen Elson: her first work was a masterpiece in my opinion but the second one was boring (with 1 or 2 good songs), why? Maybe the inspiration or simply I’m not too into non-ugly things. The band is good so I’m hopeful for the next one.

You can listen it here (and let me know what do you think):
